Pellets 5,5 mm
The 5.5 mm caliber is perhaps the most widely used airgun caliber in the world after the 4.5 mm caliber. In Anglo-American terms, it is also referred to as a cal. .22, meaning 0.22´´ (inch) diameter. Ammunition in the 5.5 mm caliber can take the form of pellets and lead shots. Since this ammunition is also very widespread, there are many kinds and types of this ammunition to choose from. When selecting the right pellet, one should consider, among other things, the weight of the pellet in relation to the power of your air gun, so that the ballistic properties are ideal. We therefore recommend:
- Projectile energy up to 7.50 Joule - weight from 0.60 g to 0.90 g
- Projectile energy from 7.50 to 17 Joules - weight from 0.90 g to 1.30 g
- Projectile energy 17 Joules and over - weight from 1.30 g and over
Standard pellets and lead shots
Standard pellets are among the cheapest and are suitable especially for undemanding hobby shooters, who are more interested in fun than in improving their skills, or for shooters who have old air guns, which by their very nature cannot be characterized by good shooting qualities and therefore it makes no sense to load more expensive pellets into them. Lead shots are also not particularly accurate ammunition and are rather used only in old models of airguns. Among the most affordable hobby pellets are pellets by manufacturers such as KOVOHUTĚ PŘÍBRAM (Czech Republic) and GAMO (Spain).
Sport, target pellets
Target pellets generally have a flat head, for the reason that they make as large mark on the target as possible and bounce as little as possible. However, just because a pellet has a flat head does not mean that it is one of the sportiest, highest quality or most accurate. The best quality and most accurate pellets may also have other shapes (e. g. round or pointed head). Sporting pellets can even be made in hundredths of a millimeter calibers such as 5.50, 5.51, 5.52, and 5.53 mm. Quality pellets undergo detailed quality controls to ensure that only the highest quality pieces reach the market. Among the highest quality manufacturers of sporting pellets are manufacturers such as JSB (Czech Republic) and Haendler & Natermann (Germany).
Hunting pellets
Hunting pellets are distinguished by their special shape, which is primarily adapted for hunting so as to have the most devastating and damaging effects. These are e. g. pointed pellets, hollow point pellets, pellets with cut edges, pellets with a slug design, or pellets which combine a hollow point with a spike. Their destructive effects are often expressed by the name itself, such as Destroyer and Terminator.
